COLOMBO Leak-Proof / StructuralJOIN Test Results

The following tests were planned and conducted during the fourth quarter of the year 2000, by COLOMBO Sales & Engineering consultants and employees in conjunction and collaboration with 3M Corporation.

October 12, 2000 - Test Plan

The test plan scenario for determining the integrity of the COLOMBO Leak-Proof / StructuralJOIN is as follows:

Utilize 6” OD Aluminum and Steel COLOMBO BeverageCHASE Tube Components and 3M Adhesive Transfer Materials.

Six to eight (6-8) Joins will be assembled and subsequently tested for Leak-Proof characteristics and for Dynamic Shear Strength.

Carol Mayer, 3M Sales Representative, Bonding Solutions Organization is in attendance to offer assistance and counsel on the proper use of 3M Products.

Carol will take specific identified Joins to the 3M Laboratory for Dynamic Shear Strength Testing.

October 12, 2000 - Actual Test Scenario

Six (6) Joins, dated and Labeled one (1) through six (6), were assembled by Bernard Licata, then consultant to COLOMBO, with Carol Mayer, 3M Sales Representative, in attendance at COLOMBO offices in Ferndale, Michigan.

October 13, 2000

The six (6) Joined tube sections were capped at one end and filled with water by COLOMBO employee Kevin Mack, Operations Manager.

October 17, 2000

The six (6) Joined tube sections experienced 0% failure. There was no sign of leakage at the Join.

October 24, 2000

Joins # 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6 were tested by 3M Corporation at their Detroit Sales Center Laboratory located at 19460 Victor Parkway, Livonia Michigan. The testing utilized the “PLUCK TESTING METHOD”. All tests were stopped at 200 lb pull.

November 14, 2000

Joins # 1, 4, and 6 were pressure tested by COLOMBO consultant Bernard Licata at COLOMBO. The three Joins held 40psi with 0% failure.

November 21, 2000

Joins # 1, 4, and 6 were returned to the 3M Laboratory and tested this date to a destruction level test.

Test Join Separation started at:
# 1 548 lbs pull
# 4 613 lbs pull
# 6 562 lbs pull

Steve Landelius conducted the 3M tests on an instrument identified as an:
    "Instron test device"

The Adhesive Product experienced a memory characteristic that recovered approximately 75% of its original condition and shape.
